June Mahoney - Scrap Africa - "Tag It" Challenge 39

Hello Everyone!

After seeing a couple of cards in the Facebook Paper People group  that Mum (June Mahoney) shared  recently the lovely Helen Wallace  (Design Team Member at Scrap Africa) kindly asked Mum if she would like to join in with the current Scrap Africa Challenge No 39.

Its a "TAG IT" Challenge

Tags are so versatile and can be used in so many ways!
So our challenge  is to use your tags and show us what you can do with them.
Please just make sure that you use at least 2 tags.
You can create a page, card or OTP project.

Mum was quietly thrilled to be asked by Helen  and very humble and modest saying, No I don't think I will do that..... reasons being.... she didn't think her work would be good enough to enter any challenges......but I told her otherwise.   Her other concern was not having her own blog and thinking she would have  to put me out  with helping her photograph her cards and then  spending time uploading it onto my blog so it could be linked in to join the challenge.....No worries to me, more than happy to help I told her, but please don't feel any pressure, if you don't want to play along then that quite okay.
No I don't think I will.....but I could tell that she really would like to.
 Next morning the door bell rings in comes Mum with not 1 but 2 tags for the challenge
:)
...and here are her beautiful creations.

[Best Wishes 4 you}

{have yourself a merry little Christmas}
 Written by June Mahoney.
Thank you Helen for asking me to join in with the Scrap Africa "Tag It" Challenge.
I have thoroughly enjoyed creating these little tag cards.

Scrap Around The World - November Mood Board Challenge - Birthday Girl

The November Mood Board at Scrap Around The World is just  Gorgeous.

Here it is!

Don't you agree.....Just Gorgeous!

You only need to be inspired by ONE image but can be inspired by
 more than one or even ALL the images - it really is UP TO YOU!!

From the mood board this is what I created.

{Birthday girl}

Scrap Around The World is NOT A COLOUR CHALLENGE SITE so there is no need
to follow the colours, although of course if they are your source of
inspiration you are welcome to use them all, or just some of them,
otherwise none at all!  You have complete artistic freedom BUT
Scrap Around The World does need to be able to SEE HOW YOU WERE INSPIRED

So many things inspired me....
the music print, the twine- ( I added thread), the bike, blooms, and  pink colours.

I have scrapped an old photo of my little girl taken on the morning of her 5th birthday,
 on her new bike. We are lucky enough to live close to Mum & Dad and they  always have a meal with us to celebrate the kids special day. After the lighting of the candles and cutting of the cake  Sarah's Pa always starts off  the "Happy Birthday" singing and does the Hip Hip Hoorays...including the music paper reminds me of him.

The Bike, my  title and  the little  pink hearts are all fabulous  2Crafty Chipboard pieces.

Thanks for stopping by!

The Scrapbook Store November Sketch-You

Hello!
Time for some scrapping!

I sat at my craft table yesterday and decided to have a play. I had an idea in my head as to what I wanted to do, but getting it from there to paper  doesn't always happen...also having in my mind if I stuff it up its only paper and it can quite easily go in the bin.... I have done that before......so lets play!

This fabulous sketch  is over at  the Scrapbook store

I started with a white piece of cardstock, a  black and white photo and some white paint.  I stuck the photo down and squeezed some paint onto the cardstock....eeekkkk.......grabbed my paint brush and brushed it randomly around and over the outside edges of the photo (I am no painter)....the paint said white but it dried a cream colour on the white cardstock...never mind!
I then got out my circle cutter...something I got when I first started scrapping from Creative Memories  and hardly ever used but its a bit of a go to tool  for me now.. I am loving circles .....and I used it with a Black zig pen to draw around the edges, using different sizes and changed the thickness of the pen to draw some thick and thin lines.
Next I grabbed my Rub-on stash (I have always loved using  Rub-ons so have a largish collection)  an just randomly added bits and pieces all around the photo....some super old one were used here.
I added a couple of paper strips down the sides,  coloured  and added some gorgeous 2Crafty Chipboard  using Black versa fine ink and added the 3 flower cluster  with the pink for a touch of colour. I did actually visit my Mum before I added the pink flower and ask what she thought about the touch of colour. I was thinking all Black /White /Cream, but I did like the single  pink flower and so did she. I am lucky to have her live so close and I often pop in for ideas and to get the yes or no....Thanks Mum. xx

.....and  after all that........ this is it....
{you}

(just wish I could have photographed it better, I find white so hard to photograph....
 it always has a bluish or grey tinge to it).

Something really different again for me.
I don't have a style as such......its always changing.....I love to try different things.
....and Yeah I  am really Happy with the way it looks!
Perhaps I need to play  a bit more...might get my layouts done quicker!

  Just a quick reminder that you have until midnight on the 30th of November to enter the November Sketch Challenge.  You wouldn’t want to miss out… there’s a $40 Store Voucher with free postage up for grabs!

If you have made it to here.....Thank-You.
Have a great day!

November Design Team 2Crafty post

My  November  2Crafty  Design Team post is up today.

November Shares-Janice Nicholls

Hello 2Crafty fans!

Today its my turn to share three more layouts with you.
My first layout has lots of the new 2Crafty chipboard pieces on it.
They are fantastic pieces and so easy to add to what ever it is you are creating- a layout,
an Off the Page project, Canvases or Cards....there is something for everyone.

{a good day today}

 2Crafty Chipboard Pieces Used;
Film Strip medium
Crazy Arrows
Line words- Happiness Borders-good day
Alpha Set 1
Interlocking Grid Panel
Circle Words Set 1

Here you can see four different pieces of chippie.
 Alpha Set 1, Film Strip, Line Word and a Crazy Arrow.
Before I start colouring my chippie, each piece is coated with gesso...
this can be done with a sponge,  a paint brush or your fingers.
All the colouring is done with versa colour Inks.
The "a" is coloured with Silver.
The film strip is coloured with Neptune  and lightly swiped with Silver.
The line word - "good day"- is coloured using Royal Blue and Olive and
 hi lighted with Silver.
The Crazy Arrow is coloured with Neptune and Royal Blue and daubed with Silver.

Chipboard is great for adding layers to your pages too.
I love these Word Circles.  Pop over to the 2Crafty website and check out all the
different words. They can be used as part of your title or as a title for your layout.
This is coloured using Olive Green and Royal Blue.
The Interlocking Grid Panel is fantastic. I snipped it up and added some to the
 bottom of my page, coloured with Olive, Narcissus and touches of Royal Blue.

More layers using the Alpha Set and Interlocking Grid Panel.

How Crazy are these Arrows!

A close up of the new Line Words- Happiness Borders- good day-
They come in sets of 3.
I used string to tie the word onto the Film Strip.

TIP: an easy way to adhere your chippie pieces is to staple them on.

{U love making scones}

 2Crafty Chipboard Pieces Used;
love loopy font
Alpha Set 1
Hessian Patch Panel
2014
Chevron Bits

A NEW  Chippie  piece *Hessian Patch Panel*
I have used this to frame the photo. I randomly daubed it with Charcoal Ink so
 you could still see some of the raw colour peeking through.
I have layered a couple of paper covered Chevron Bits on top of it.

love- loopy font- this is a favourite of mine...there are so many of these loopy font words.
All are just perfect for putting that sometimes hard to find title on your page.
 They can be coloured to suit your layout or even left  raw which also look fantastic.
 I have coloured this with an orange watercolour pencil and then sprayed it with
Mister Hueys Colour Mist -Sunshine.
You can see a small piece of the Hessian Patch tucked under the photo.
Another paper covered Chevron Bit and the U is from the Alpha Set

These letters were selected from the Alpha Set 1.
All coloured using 3 different Inks- canary, pinecone and celadon

2014 -another of my favourite pieces....that all important date.
Coloured with Canary Ink
....and more of the Hessian Patch.

My last share for this month since its almost December,
 is  a Christmas  layout- a favourite time of the year for me.
{Christmas in a Winter Wonderland}

 2Crafty Chipboard Pieces Used;
Funky Snowflakes
ATC tiny Hearts and Stars
Circles
Merry Christmas Script Card Pack-Christmas

My inspiration for this layout came from a digital  page.
  This  photo was taken by my daughter last year in Churchill....Yes, she was lucky
 enough to experience a White Christmas.This is the home she lived in for 10 days.
 How magical does it look!
The little photo of Sarah was taken Christmas morning...she too loves Christmas.

Funky Snowflakes are scattered on my page and coloured with gesso, white ink and
 Mister Hueys Chalkboard Mist and each one has an ATC tiny Star attached to the centre.

ATC tiny Hearts and Stars-coloured with Scarlet and Gold Ink.
The Stars were placed randomly on the layout.
Circles- coloured with Gold and used to hi light the photo.

This Christmas script word is just Gorgeous.
Coloured with Rose Red Ink.
 It comes from a Merry Christmas Script Card Pack.
 There are four  Merry Christmas word in a pack.
Grab a pack now and add them to your Christmas projects.
I have used a spray adhesive to stick this down.

Well that's me for this month.

 this amazing Chippie to your next creation.

Once Upon A... Sketch - Inspiration/I am inspired by

Hello Everyone!
This is the first time I have joined in and shared a layout for
I loved the sketch and theme for this month...Inspiration/I am inspired by.....

This is the sketch

I turned it  clockwise

 and here is what I created....
{Dear Mum}
This wonderful person (my Mum) is a huge inspiration to me.
I love my Mum.
She is amazing, she is inspirational. She is beautiful inside and out.
So I wrote her a little message on this layout to let her know just how much she is loved.

Dear Mum,
Over the years I have watched  the wonderful way you've made life special for our family...
the moments of love and laughter,
the traditions and memories we will carry with us throughout our lives.
But most of all I've watched the way you have shown us the
 true meaning of love in everything you do.
You are the best Mum.
I'm happy you are mine
Thank you - We love you.
xxxx

One of the things that drew me to this challenge site is that you need to add journaling to your layouts. It doesn't need to be much, and it can be hidden if you wish. Adding journaling to the front of my layouts is a rare thing. Sadly many of my layouts only have a title which tells the person reading it or looking at it very little.
 I will be brave one day and actually hand write my journaling for a more personal touch.
I am not good at journaling, but I think  it is really important, so I can see myself joining in  with these challenges again. And I will let you in on another little secret...I love working with a sketch too....so this is the perfect challenge for me.

Thanks for  visiting today.

Scrap Africa and CSI No 146

 Hello and welcome to my blog.
Thanks for stopping by and having a look.

 Sketches are such a wonderful starting point for creating layouts.
This fabulous sketch is over at Scrap Africa and there is still a few more days to play along.

The Sketch

.......and here is my interpretation

{sweet}

  I have combined this with the
Case File NO 146 over at Colour Stories Inspiration.
The colours are just beautiful and this all came together rather quickly which is most unusual for me.
Using some really,really old beautiful Basic Grey Papers and  a few pieces of that  fabulous
 2Crafty Chippie....Love it!

{sweet}

The Scheme: Use all 5 colours....Done
Evidence: Use at least 2... stripes (the grid pattern)
metal (brads), fibres, something transparent (circles)...Done
Testimony: Make a list:
What we love about this sweet little girl;
Sarah we love
 your smile,
 your dimples,
your little button nose,
 your giggles and laughter,
your caring nature
We LOVE YOU!

A lot of people don't stop by blogs anymore due to Facebook, but I still love blogs and browsing.
 If you do stop by let me know and I will pop by your blog for a look.

Thanks! Enjoy your week!
