Blog Hop with a Difference

A few weeks ago I was asked by my dear friend Helen Wallace if I would like to play along with a BLOG HOP with a DIFFERENCE.
After reading the email it all seemed a bit daunting, I wasn't sure if I wanted to play along...
after sleeping on it and rereading it again next morning I though it sounded like a bit of fun.....
so I said Yes I would love to join in.

Click HERE to go to Helen's blog.
Helen's work is beautiful. I am in awe of her journaling talents....she is a journal junkie (Helen's words). Helen has inspired me to journal more on my layouts instead of just having a title and date. Helen is on the CSI, Scrap Africa and Megs Garden Design Teams.

My list of Friends are at the bottom of this post.
They will reveal their posts next week- 7th July.

Getting to know ME....

1. What am I working on right now.
I am working on a Birthday Card for my Beautiful Mum.
Mum loves to receive something handmade.
She absolutely loves Heather Jacob's work as do I,
so I have created a Heather Jacob inspired card for her
using some gorgeous Maja Design papers and some cricut cut outs from Mum.
"Happy Birthday for Sunday Mum"
Hugs from Janice xx

I am also working on some GD creations.
Super excited to be invited to Guest Design here.
Make sure you pop back for the full reveal soon.

2. How long does it take to create a layout?

To be honest it takes me way to long....
I am a very slow scrapper, I procrastinate way to long.
Some layouts come together quickly and others take me days to complete.
I am sure if I had my own scrapbooking room I would create more ...and be more organized...some days I spend hours looking for something I know I have, but cannot find. I tell myself to pack up and put away after I have finished a layout....... but I don't always do that.
I am a messy scrapper.

3.What  are my favourite things I love to create with?
At the moment I am loving washi tapes, I know rub-ons are old but I still love using them, chipboard, thread, inks and stamps.

4.How does your creating process work?
Most times I choose a photo first...sometimes changing it to Black/White, depending on the criteria of the challenge.
I then select my papers...Using papers from the same manufacturer or collection-
 It makes colour matching easy.
I often look for a sketch for inspiration and design layout.
I select my accessories/embellies to match.
I create the background layers-(mixed media, inks, mists, stamping)  Let it Dry or if I am in a hurry heat gun it dry.
I start adding more layers....washi strips, and rub-ons
Add my paper layer -Place them down and adhere
Add my photo.
 Add title and text.
 Add embellishments.
Add finishing touches etc...more misting/ stamping.
This all sounds and look like every layout should fall in place very easy....BUT they don't!
Sometimes I tell myself to just stick it down, no more shuffling, moving changing...just stick it down.

HINT: once you have decided on placement take a photo of your layout....refer back to the photo when you are adhering the layers and embellies.

5.How do I become inspired and stay inspired?
My Children, well young adults now, my Mum and life in general keep me inspired.
I am also inspired by the many talented scrappers who share their work via blog, facebook or
you- tube tutorials.
Magazines are full of inspiration.
Inspiration is everywhere!
I have been fortunate to be on a few amazing Design Teams and have had the opportunity to do some Guest Designing,....this always keeps me inspired, scrapping and preserving my Family memories.

6 What is my Signature style?
My signature style is minimalistic....I love white space.
On most of my layouts you will find a HEART of some description
-chipboard, rub-on, washi, paper, metal, ribbon, transparent, template, stamp-

Colour, Stories, Inspiration Case File No. 128

Colour, Stories, Inspiration.
We're back this week with a lovely Case File featuring purple! We've heard over and over how purple is a scrapper's least favorite color, but our design team and guest designers have proven that purple is definitely scrapworthy, and we can't wait to see you work your magic with this palette!
Now, are you ready to solve this week's Case File? Click on the image below to see our most current Case File and all the gorgeous work by the CSI design team and our guest designers.

This is my interpretation from the gorgeous Colours, Evidence and Testimony.

{yr 1}

The Scheme; 5 gorgeous colours
Evidence:chalkboard, tissue paper, flowers, rosettes, punch, distressing chalk, numbers
Testimony: Write about a door or entrance. I have used an old photo of my gorgeous little girl.
Every year I took photos of her on her 1st day of her school years
I have journaled about Sarah walking through the school doors.
Sarah you were familiar with the school and the surrounds which made your transition from kindy to school so much easier. You were very excited to wear your new uniform  and  pop your big backpack onto your back. We walked to school,  and you chatted all the way. Arriving in the school yard you instantly found your group of friends whilst Mum stood back watching on ....I was so proud of you. The bell sounded and you looked around for me, we walked in through those doors found your locker and then through the classroom door without hesitation.Today was your 1st day in Year 1 and you never looked back.

Thanks for stopping by and sharing some love.
Each and every comment is really appreciated!

Hello Everyone!
Welcome to the 2Crafty blog.
Today I am sharing 3 layouts all featuring the very versatile  2Crafty chipboard.
My 1st layout is a grungy boys page.
The Workman

2Crafty Products Used:
Chevron Bits
Assorted Arrows
2013
Polaroid Frame
Gears

All the Gears were covered with a light coat  of gesso then sprayed and splattered
with different mists, painted with distress crackle paint and randomly stamped with inks.

The Chevron Bits were coloured using stamps and distress inks
2013 was inked with Versa Colour Charcoal Ink.

The Polaroid frame was covered with gesso first, then I added some mesh and
washi tape, then it was sprayed and splattered with Tattered Angels
Graphite Glimmermist
The Arrows were coloured the same as the Chevron Bits

A close up of the Cogs, an Arrow from the Assorted Arrow Pack and the Polaroid Frame
My 2nd Layout is a soft and pretty feminine page

Time Just Flies By
 2Crafty Chipboard Products:
ATC Hearts
Fern
Clock Faces
6"Clock Face Frames
Heart Charm

Heart Charm- I covered the scroll piece with gesso and placed
embroidery thread over the top of it.
The Heart I embossed using Zing Embossing powder-Blush
The little ATC hearts are just perfect to add to your layouts.
I coated each Heart with  gesso and randomly inked the edges and tops with Versa Color Cinnamon Ink, then stamped the Diamond pattern on top using charcoal ink
with a Kaisercraft Stamp.

The Fern piece was left raw and  I added some 3D Kindy Glitz Puffed White
to add some dimension on each of the leaves.

6"Clock Face Frames- This was embossed using Zing Embossing Powder-Blush
The Frame around the photo was coloured and distressed using Tim Holtz
 Distress Crackle Paint-Picket Fence
ATC Heart- altered with gesso, Inks and stamping.
Clock Face- was covered with gesso and used as a photo matt

My 3rd share is a layout I created  for Scrap Around the World mood board in May
